CUET UG for BBA and BMS: subjects, maths rule and how DU admits
Many students who want a management degree after Class 12 do not take a separate entrance test at all: they apply through CUET UG to central universities. At the University of Delhi (DU), the popular BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) and BBA (Financial Investment Analysis) are filled only on the basis of CUET UG scores, through DU's CSAS admission portal. Class 12 marks are used only to break ties.
The single most important rule: Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is compulsory, both in Class 12 and as a CUET paper.

Each university and college sets its own subject rules for CUET. Read the admission bulletin of every university you apply to; the rules above are DU's for 2026.
What this means in practice
- Pick your CUET subjects carefully. If you do not take Mathematics or Applied Mathematics in CUET, you cannot apply for DU's BMS or BBA (FIA), however high your other scores are.
- If you did not study maths in Class 12, DU's FAQ explains that you can take it as an additional subject from NIOS or another board, but you must still pass Class 12 fully from one board.
- Fill the DU CSAS form in time. CUET registration alone is not an application to DU.
How to prepare for CUET for management courses
- Language paper: reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. Read daily.
- Mathematics or Applied Mathematics: CUET follows the Class 12 syllabus; revise it thoroughly with timed practice.
- List B subject: choose, from DU's current List B, the paper you score best in.
- Practise with NTA's previous CUET papers under time limits.
CUET or a private university's entrance?
Most students keep both options open: CUET UG for DU and other central universities, and tests like NPAT (NMIMS), SET (Symbiosis) or the IPM tests for five-year management programmes. The syllabus overlaps, so one preparation plan covers most of them.
